Clubs still hope to keep Keane in Britain

Although he is believed to be almost certain to join Spanish giants Real Madrid Roy Keane could still be persuaded to remain in Britain. Premiership clubs Everton, Bolton and Celtic have not given up hope that Keane may still prefer to stay in Britain.

Roy Keane has made no firm decision yet

Despite last Sunday’s newspapers in Spain claiming the former Manchester United skipper has already undergone a medical with Real Madrid both Everton boss David Moyes and Bolton counterpart Sam Allardyce said they were still interested in Keane.

After Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford Everton manager David Moyes said: “He’s a player that I would like to bring to Everton but we have not heard anything yet. I’m sure I am the same as eight or 10 other managers that are waiting for a decision but I respect that Roy will take his time and make the decision that is best for himself.”

Celtic, Manchester City, Wigan and West Brom are other clubs to have been linked with the 34-year-old Keane. Meanwhile Keane’s agent Michael Kennedy has insisted the Cork man will not be making a decision about his future until later in the week.
