Yorkshire changes

Yorkshire GAA has a new chairman with Kerry native Fr Eugene McGillicuddy taking the reins at the annual convention.

Fr McGillicuddy succeeds Michael Conrecode who retired this year but is to remain on as vice-chairman and Provincial Council delegate.

Pat Kane and Sean Gavigan will remain as secretary and treasurer respectively for the new year. Mr Gavigan was in particular congratulated on the healthy state of the Yorkshire Board’s finances in 2006.

Long-serving PRO Jimmy Houton will continue to serve in the new year while Leeds-born school teacher Damien Kane will fill the role of youth officer. Kane announced that the board would be applying for a Dion Grant from the Irish Government as part of their plan to develop the underage structures in Yorkshire GAA.

The new board is:

President: Paddy Hanrahan; Chairman: Fr Eugene McGillycuddy; Vice-Chairman: Michael Conrecode; Secretary: Pat Kane; Assistant Secretary/PRO: Jimmy Houton; Treasurer: Sean Gavigan; Registrar: John McCormack; Provincial Council: Michael Conrecode, Andrew Kitterick; Provincial Convention: Paddy Greene, John Kehoe. Congress: Michael Conrecode, Ollie Walsh, Danny O’Shea, Jimmy Houton. Youth Officer: Damien Kane.
