Shooting linked to Dublin feuds GARDAÍ are investigating
if a gangland shooting in Dublin’s north inner city is linked with
any of the feuds in the area.
A masked gunman blasted a house on Sean McDermott Street five times in
a dawn attack.
The occupants were asleep at the time and no-one was injured.
A garda spokesman said: “Five shots were fired at a house
three went through a front ground floor window and two went through the
front door.”
The gunman was described as approximately 1.52m (5ft) in height. He was
wearing a black tracksuit with the hood up and a red mask over his face.
Detectives said they were keeping an open mind in relation to the motive
behind the attack and would investigate if it is linked in any way with
various feuds in the locality.
One increasingly violent feud has already claimed the life of a young
man. Paul Kelly, 26, from Gardiner Street was shot dead by two gunmen
in Clontarf last April.
The man behind the murder is thought to be a major drug dealer. Members
of the two gangs clashed in a brawl at the Mater Hospital in May.
Detectives will also examine if there is a link with a separate row which
has claimed the lives of two people in the area. The leader of one of
the gangs was jailed last January for raping his partner’s daughter. |
