The Pulse: 'Tabby tipped to become a chart-topper'

By John Crowley's

WESTLIFE’S Mark Feehily has revealed that he knew the X-Factor’s Tabby Callaghan was destined for stardom the minute they met.

And the singer said he would love to write a song for his Sligo pal when he launches his solo career.

Speaking at the launch of Westlife’s new Rat Pack album Allow Us To Be Frank, Mark said whether Tabby wins or loses he shouldn’t take the competition too seriously.

“Tabby has a very individual personality,” he said. “If he gets knocked out it won’t be the end of the world.

“There are some people who are good but don’t even get into the final 10.

“And they think: ‘Well Simon Cowell doesn’t think I am any good — I might as well give up for life’.

“But they should just take it for what it is — it’s a competition.

“If they do well then good but if not they shouldn’t give up because there will be another competition with different judges who might like them.

“Don’t take it too seriously even if you win — just enjoy it.”

However, the boys’ new album has been given a pasting by ex-007 star Pierce Brosnan.

Pierce said: “I’m not too impressed with these new boybands trying to do Rat Pack music.

“To sing that you need real heart and have to love the music and I don’t think they do.”

But Westlife singer Shane Filan dismissed allegations that the band had run out of ideas.

“It has changed the dynamics of Westlife and put us out to a whole new market,” he said.

“We’re absolutely thrilled about this album. It’s the best one ever. We’re really hyped and motivated about it.”
