Can our Jennifer take on the mighty Alan?
By Elaine Sheridan
Ireland has another hopeful in the forthcoming series of tough BBC reality
show The Apprentice.
Among the 16 colourful contestants battling it out to impress Sir Alan
Sugar is Jennifer Maguire, a marketing consultant originally from Dublin.
Now living in Bristol, the 27-year-old was a champion show jumper at the
age of 14.
Describing herself as an ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’, she
said: “I am a success totally.”
Maguire says that when she first ran an office she made £60,000
in six months with no training.
She specialises in advertising for the fashion and leisure industry and
was promoted within two weeks of starting her job.
Proudly flying the flag for her country she said: “I can sell pieces
of paper for £50.
“I rate myself as the best salesperson in Europe.”
Of course the Irish are no strangers to the contest as last year Wicklow
woman Kristina Grimes made it all the way to final, which was eventually
won by internet entrepreneur Simon Ambrose.
The feisty pharmaceutical sales manager was a huge hit with Sir Alan Sugar
and her rival housemates having worked her way through university despite
having had a son at a young age.
Other contestants this year include a barrister, a bank manager, a risk
manager, an ex-Army engineer, a single mother, an international car trader,
an artist, a former championship show jumper and a business liaison manager
with royal connections.
The final 16 contestants were whittled down from 20,000 applicants.
The winner will walk away with a six-figure salary and the opportunity
to work for Sir Alan.
The fourth series of The Apprentice starts Wednesday, March 26 at 9pm
on BBC One. |
