Just about the most attractive hotel in Dublin, with oodles of character about as far from a polystyrene hotel as you can get. Modern design and historic heritage, the front of the building was converted by the famous Irish architect, Sam Stephenson, who owned the original house. His most original idea was the lowered living room which is now the lobby. The hotel reopened this spring after substantial renovation.

The Shelbourne Hotel opened recently after extensive renovation. Built in 1824, this luxury hostelry was and still is an important hub of Dublin’s literary and political happenings. The Irish constitution was drafted here in 1922 and Ireland’s main movers and shakers still foregather here.
