Minors Win and Lose in Louth
A NEW York minor team that few had faith in stunned London in the opening game of the international minor football competition in Cooley, Co. Louth earlier this month. It was an inspired performance, ending in a 2-7 to 1-7 scoreline.

Tipp Back On Track
TIPPERARY managed to hit 21 wides yet still win this All-Ireland hurling championship quarterfinal with relative ease. Offaly hit two late goals to lend a little respectability to the scoreline, but in truth they struggled and were in serious trouble by halftime, trailing 0-5 to 1-8.

SFC: Dolan Sinks Kildare in Thriller
EXTRA-time was needed to separate these two teams in a magnificent qualifier at Portlaoise, but in the end the game belonged to corner-forward Frankie Dolan who struck 13 points for Roscommon. Despite hitting four wides in the second half, it was Dolan who produced the goods when it most mattered.

THE Irish Rovers football club kept up their winning tradition when their over-30s side retained their league title last Sunday. In a top of a table clash they put on a brilliant display beating Islip 6-1. The oldies had to win to retain their title, and when challenged they saved their best vintage for when it counted.
