Bronx Irish Soccer League

DR. Gillbert’s goalie Jeannie Heinsohn recorded her second shutout of the year as her side beat Docs 3-0 during the second week of Bronx Irish Soccer League play.

Tina Crescent scored an unassisted goal, beating the keeper on a breakaway to give Gilberts a 1-0 first half lead. Siobhan Kilkenny got hot in the second half, scoring two goals off assists from Jeannine Rynne and Lucille Conklin. Great saves by Docs’ keeper Nora McGrail kept it a close game . . .

VELOCITY also continued the season with a strong showing, defeating Jake’s August Fury United (JAFU, formerly ‘Katie’s Cottage) 3-1. JAFU’s Jackie Bingham scored the goal’s first game, but Velocity came back strong with two goals by Erica Barth, and one by Nicole D’Orazio for the win . . .

IN other league action, Harps defeated Parlour by a score of 1-0, with spectacular goalkeeping by Susan Kistler keeping Parlour in the game. Details on the Tigers’ loss to Ned Devine’s were not available . . .

IN other Bronx News, JAFU, formerly sponsored by Katie’s Cottage in Yonkers, is now being sponsored by August General Construction and Jake’s Steakhouse, both of the Bronx. The players of Fury United greatly appreciate all the support Katie’s Cottage has given, and looks forward to working with our new sponsors.
