In THE NEWS

Rosanna Davison’s controversial reign as Miss World is now over. She was the first Miss Ireland to win the ultimate crown, but in China over the weekend it passed to Miss Peru. The Miss Ireland contestant this time around didn’t make the last 15. Davison was hardly a popular Miss World, as she seemed to be more interested in boosting the career of her dad, aging crooner Chris de Burgh, than enjoying the fruits of her crown . . .

SARAH Michelle Gellar’s take on Ireland? “It’s such a fun place, and it’s always so laid back. It’s the sort of place too that I could do something to enhance my rock ‘n’ roll credibility. I’ll have to ask Colin Farrell for some tips on that front.” . . .

SPEAKING of Colin, his very own Greek tragedy, Alexander, continues to tank at the box office. Last week the flick grossed a measly $4.8 million; it’s total haul is less than $30 million. Let’s hope the disaster doesn’t land Colin in the casting cellar next to the likes of Ben Affleck.
