THE celebrity rehab train just landed another passenger with the announcement
on Tuesday that Jonathan Rhys Meyers, the Irish star of the new Showtime
series The Tudors, has checked himself in for treatment.
His PR person Meredith O’Sullivan broke the news to People magazine.
“After a non-stop succession of filming, Jonathan Rhys Meyers has
entered an alcohol-treatment program,” rep Meredith O’Sullivan
says. “He felt a break was needed to maintain his recovery.”
Let’s hope he recovers soon, as his career is certainly going from
strength to strength. The Tudors is proving to be a huge hit for the cable
network, which has already ordered up a season two.
JRM, 29, also just finished filming August Rush alongside Robin Williams,
Terrance Howard and Keri Russell, and his film The Children of Huang Shi
will be released later this year. He’s also got projects lined up
with Don Cheadle and Michelle Williams.
According to reports, he was due in Dublin next month to start production
on the next series of The Tudors. No word on whether these plans will be
pushed back. “Jonathan plans to resume his schedule following completion,”
his rep added.
