NY GAA - Easy Win for Faithful
May 7, 2008
Offaly 3-14 Fr. Tom Burke’s 0-2
THE final proved to be very anti climatic as Fr. Tom’s legs hit the wall and they had no answer to an Offaly team that was still full of running.
The build-up of scores for Offaly came slowly but steadily, while Fr. Toms were able to make no impression on the Offaly rearguard. And when they did happen to get past the defense, they found former New York keeper Alan Gleason in fine form as he made some incredible saves.
Damien Reilly, Darren Clifford and Brian McNaughton were again the scoring architects for Offaly. The winners also had good performances from Philip Wickham, Kevin McKay and Eunan McKillof.
For a very tired Fr. Tom’s. Davis Hession proved himself a top class keeper with the Moors brothers, Trevor Kelly, Derek McCabe, Gerry Martyn and John Dowling all playing their part to get them to the final.
Offaly: Alan Gleason, Ritchie Gaule, Damien Reilly, Willie Kiley, Dan Dwyer, Donal Broderick, Eunon McKillof, Brian McNaughton, Damien Clifford, Kevin McKay, Philip Wickham.
Fr. Toms: Davis Hession, Donal Moore, Seamus Moore, Ciaran Moore, Gerry Martyn, Derek McCabe, Martin Moore, Mike Moore, John Dowling, Trevor Kelly, Declan Cremin.
