VISITORS AT THE SCHOOL

We parked the jeep in the shade of a thorn-tree which blossomed with dripping yellow flowers, an event from my long distant school days suddenly came to mind. The image that played on the screen of my memory was so vivid I quickly drank from my water bottle fearing the onset of heat-stroke. In this image, the word had spread that a famous person was about to visit our little school, the identity of that celebrity escapes me now, but not the image of those of us who could not contain our excitement and continuously ran to the classroom windows, against the wishes of the teacher, to see if they had arrived. An event out of the ordinary which brightened an otherwise ordinary day.
