Have you ever wanted to partner a seasoned three day event horse over a challenging cross country course or ride a dressage test on a horse schooled to Grand Prix level? Are you a showjumping rider wishing to improve your technique? Maybe you fancy learning the sport of polo, or you could simply wish to enjoy a hack through the countryside. Whatever your particular interest, we guarantee that you will find it on this Five day stay at the Clonshire Equestrian Centre in Adare.
As soon as you arrive at the gates of Clonshire, the scene is set for the week ahead of you. An ornamental showjump bearing the centre`s name invites you in. The drive then sweeps through the impressive parkland where a vast array of exciting cross country obstacles are laid out as far as the eye can see. The venue for various hunter trials throughout the year, the course utilises every natural curve and aspect of the park to test your horsemanship. As you travel along the driveway you will also notice the immaculate kennels of The Limerick Foxhounds. Each morning they can be seen while exercised in the grounds - a lovely sight.
Top class tuition and individual attention from the fully qualified Clonshire instructors ensure that you will learn much from your week. Sue and Dan Foley, the managers of the centre, have a wealth of competitive experience behind them. Dan has had considerable experience in the eventing field and has produced showjumpers to national level while Sue has competed show hunters successfully at Dublin show.
You will be mounted on a horse suited to your riding ability and the itinerary can be specifically designed to focus on your main area of interest, if you wish. Clonshire has around sixty horses of various levels. While some are obviously very suitable for the beginner as they are extremely reliable and `bombproof`, the more experienced rider will be allocated a horse to perform at the level required.
The venue also for showjumping leagues throughout the winter and summer, as well as the major international show in October, Clonshire offers training facilities which are second to none. An international standard indoor arena ensures that inclement weather will not affect your riding for the day. The indoor seating will enable you to watch and learn from other lessons going on, if you wish. As it is used for polo practice and training, the outdoor arena is immense. Well maintained surfaces in both arenas are perfect for riding on, therefore helping the horses achieve what is asked of them.
